Cleaning, re-sanding and sealing pavers in Cape Coral costs about $1.25–$2.50 per square foot, which puts a typical paver driveway at $900–$2,000. Cleaning on its own is about $0.30–$0.60 per square foot. The job takes one day to clean and sand, then the sealer goes on once the pavers are dry, usually the next day.
Three steps, in order
1. Clean
Pavers get medium pressure and a surface cleaner, not the full force we use on poured concrete. Too much pressure scours the top of the brick and blows the sand out of every joint. Weeds and the black growth in the joints come out with it.
2. Re-sand
Once the surface is dry we sweep new joint sand into every gap. On most Cape driveways that is polymeric sand, which firms up when misted and resists washing out in a summer downpour. Full joints are what lock the pavers together and keep them from shifting under the car.
3. Seal
The sealer bonds the top of the sand and protects the color from sun and rain. You choose the finish: a natural matte look or a wet look that deepens the color. On pool decks we use a sealer rated for barefoot traffic and wet areas so the surface stays slip-resistant.
Why pavers fade so fast here
Southwest Florida sun bleaches the pigment in concrete pavers year after year, and the rainy season washes joint sand out a little more with every storm. Ants carry more of it away. Empty joints hold water and seed, which is where the weeds and the green film start. Sealing slows all three: less fading, sand that stays put and fewer places for growth to take hold.
Pavers by the pool
Pool decks get extra care. Chlorinated and salt water splash onto the pavers daily, and efflorescence (a white, chalky bloom) shows up on newer installs. We clean with the pool protected, treat efflorescence before sealing, and keep the sealer off the pool coping and tile line.
How often to reseal
Most sealed driveways and pool decks in Lee County want a fresh coat every two to three years. A quick clean in between keeps them bright. If the existing sealer is peeling or has turned cloudy, it needs stripping first; we will tell you if that is the case before quoting.
What paver sealing costs
| Job | Estimated price | What moves it |
|---|---|---|
| Clean, re-sand and seal | $1.25–$2.50 / sq ft | Square footage, sand type, sealer finish |
| Typical paver driveway, full service | $900–$2,000 | Driveway size and condition |
| Paver cleaning only | $0.30–$0.60 / sq ft | How much growth is in the joints |
| Old sealer stripped first | Quoted on site | Only when the old coat is peeling or cloudy |
Estimates only. Paver sealing prices are estimates to help you plan. The written price depends on the measured area, the condition of the joints and the sealer you pick. See every price.
Paver sealing questions
Wet look or natural finish?
It comes down to taste. Wet look deepens the color and adds a slight sheen; natural keeps the pavers looking unsealed but still protected. On pool decks we steer toward a finish that stays grippy.
How soon can I drive or walk on sealed pavers?
Foot traffic is fine after a few hours. Keep cars off for about 24 hours, longer if the weather is humid.
Will sealing stop the weeds?
It slows them a lot. Full joints with set sand leave little room for seeds, but nothing stops weeds entirely in our climate.
